Life can get so busy sometimes that there is nothing quite like taking a little break from it all.
Pack up on a Friday and head off for a weekend away from work and worries. It’s also a great way to explore places that you’ve never been before, and, for Brits like us, the easiest way to see so much of Europe is with a long weekend…
Now, I’ve been many a weekend trip in my 25 years, and so I like to think of myself as a bit of an experienced packer. Granted, I will on the odd occasion forget my toothbrush or hairbrush. But on the whole, I’m pretty good at packing exactly what I need, no more, no less. I can’t claim this is because I’m a packing genius however – my packing is purely down to my ritualistic packing checklist.
My checklist works for nearly all weekends away, and (mostly) means that I don’t end up forgetting something essential – like pants, or deodorant (I’ve forgotten both of these in the past!).
So I thought I would put my checklist online for anybody who wants a go-to list:
I am a complete worrier and so this list is my saviour when packing. I will go through and check through it at least two times before I depart on my trips, and it stops any panicky ‘What have I forgotten?!’ feelings that I would otherwise have!
Obviously, bits of the list can be added in or swapped out depending on where you’re going. Nobody needs flip flops for a trip to Wales in the middle of February. And you certainly won’t want a winter coat on a summer city break to Italy. I’ve also missed out CAMERA from the list. Mainly because, for me, my Canon is a little too bulky for a weekend trip, so I usually use the camera on my phone, which works absolutely fine for me. If you are taking a camera though, don’t forget batteries/battery charger and memory cards – there is nothing worse than going to take a photo and realising your camera is dead!
What are your weekend break essentials?
