So this month me and Lee decided we’re going to start focusing on making our house a little more ‘us’. After a few months with lots going on, we’ve not really had much time to do any decorating since initially doing some when we moved in, and while we’ve bought bits and pieces here and there, we really want to try and bring everything together and create something we’re both really happy with.

What this now means is that I’ve spent the last few weeks just scouring Pinterest like a maniac. I’ve also bought a couple of magazines, and been looking at home guides and lots of blogs, but Pinterest is really where it’s at when it comes to home decor – I’ve found so many ideas that I just love. So I thought I’d share some of our inital ideas and some things we really like with you!

We spent a fair bit of time on our living room last year, and love the colours we have, so we really just want to build on the grey/muted tones we already have. I love the mix of colours and patterns in both of these pins, but what I really love are the light features – the industrial metallic light fixtures make such an interesting feature – I’ve already started hunting around for something like this!

I’ve also really liked mixing up similar colours, with lots of simple patterns – and I love the effect here of the two arm chairs – I’ve yet to convince Lee though! I also really like the added pops of yellow!

One thing I think parts of our house are missing is personal features and points of interest – we have a lot of blank wall space around here! I love the idea of these shelves and think they’d make a great feature.

Me and Lee are lucky enough to have bought a beautiful Victorian house, with loads of original fireplaces, and gorgeous bay windows. The one in our bedroom is currently housing one of my dressing tables, but as I tend to use my other dressing tables (selfish having two right?! >.<), we thought it might be nice to put in it’s place a window seat. Luckily enough, lee’s dad is a carpenter, so we’re hoping to have him make us one. I love this one, with the added shelving – not sure if we can have something like this, but a girl can dream right?!

For anybody who knows me, I’m very big on frames, but at the moment, we don’t have a lot up on our walls at the moment, just scattered around pretty much every surface in the house. A wall like this is my dream – and I think this would be perfect for our hallway, which we’re looking at completely redecorating in the new year.

Anyways, I’ll keep you all up to date with how our redecorating planning goes, so stay tuned!

I would absolutely love a window seat – unfortunately we’re not lucky enough for bay windows but it’s something I’ll be looking for in future houses. I’m in a similar position to you at the moment, settled in a house but want to make it a little more homely. This is the fun part, in my opinion! Good luck with your little changes πŸ™‚
