This month has been a busy one, so I thought I’d share just a few of the things I’ve been thankful for in February.
Wedding planning fun
Or rather…. venue viewings galore! As a mentioned in my second Wedding Belles post, we’ve been spending a lot of time over the past couple of months going to see different venues – longer than we would have wanted in all honesty. But because we both work, and only have weekends free, combined with other plans, and the fact that most of the venues we want to see are scattered around the West Country, it’s been hard fitting more than two into a weekend. Some people might wonder why we’re going to see so many but it’s such a big decision, and even though we’ve seen a couple that we have really truly loved we want to make sure we’ve seen lots of options before we commit. Some venues look completely different online to in person too, so definitely worth doing IMO. That said, lots of venues are already getting booked up for next summer, so I’m hoping we end up making a decision over the next few weeks – exciting!
Time with friends and family
I have to admit, I am one of those people who secretly loves it when people cancel plans. Not that I don’t love my friends and family to bits, it’s just that recently, I’ve been getting really anxious and stressed if my schedule is really busy, so I’ve been a bit rubbish with making plans. But this month, I’ve made a real effort to see some of my favourites and it’s been lovely spending time, and having some good laughs.
I absolutely love this time of year, when we finally, after what seems like years of Winter, start to see some proper sunshine. Even it’s still icy cold, a bit of sunshine immediately boosts my mood and makes me more inclined to head outside for a nice walk than sit on the sofa watching Netflix (although I still do that too obvs). It always surprises me how much of a difference some sunny weather can do to everyone’s spirits – bring on the Summer!
The past month or so, I feel like I’ve been in a bit of a funk – I’m not really sure why, possibly wedding planning stresses, or just a bit of winter blues – but there have been a few moments this month that have made me feel so much better about everything. One example was just a couple of days ago – my Mum came to visit, as she had an appointment in the town I live in. It happened to be really sunny and so, after her appointment, we decided to grab some chips and head up to the hills above the seafront and have a spot of lunch while we watched the sea. It wasn’t any grand occasion, but just made me appreciate getting to spend a bit of time together, taking in the sea air, with no TV or phones or other distractions. Sometimes that’s exactly what we need.
Getting things in order
For a little while now, I’ve been telling myself that I will organise/sort/tidy certain areas around the house, or get odd jobs done, when I have a spare second. But the sad truth I have discovered of being an adult is that you won’t ever have that spare second – you need to make the time for it. So this month I have made myself the promise to start making the time for things. Forget that hour you spend watching Netflix and just get stuff done. Reading Marie Kondo’s book (seemingly like everyone else in the blogging world!) has been pretty motivational for me, and I know I’ll feel so much better for it, so I’m excited to change my habits and start being more organised.
I hope you’ve all had a great month! Let me know what you’ve been up to!
