Blogmas Day 5: My Favourite Christmas Films

Miracle on 34th street

At this time of year, it’s everything I can do not to spend every waking hour watching Christmassy films. I’ve pretty much watched every Christmas film there is, some I’ve loved better than others. And there are a few that I would happily watch every. single. day. So I thought I would share my faves, so you can all get obsessive too (if you’re not already!)

1. The Santa Clause

The Santa Clause

This is one I’ve watched since I was a kid. It has everything you could want from a Christmas film – elf with sparkley cheeks, a north pole you could only dream of, and a few reindeer with attitude. I’m not so much a fan of the two sequels, but this one is a winner.

2. Miracle on 34th Street

Miracle on 34th street

Possibly my all-time favourite if I’m honest – it’s the sweetest tale of a stubborn little girl who learns how to believe in all things Christmassy after meeting Santa and helping to save him. I like to pretend I was as smart and funny as little Susan. The ending of this is just perfect, and always gets me feeling festive.

3. Love, Actually

probably one of my favourite films in general, I actually watch this several times throughout the year. I’m a big romantic at heart and this film has romance in bucket loads. Add in the christmas scenes, christmas songs, and Bill Nighy’s hilarious little bits, and it’s the perfect film.

4. Home Alone

Another film where I’m not a fan of the sequels but love the original. Little Macaulay is super cute in this, and it’s got just the right amount of sad/funny/awe moments, I could literally watch it all day long.

5. Elf

I didn’t watch this film when it first came out because I thought it looked annoying. HOW WRONG I WAS. This film is always first on my christmas watch list. It makes me laugh so loudly every time I watch it. And it has Zooey Deschanel singing Santa Baby. Could you ask for more?!

What are your favourite Christmas films?!
