Yes yes, summer is on it’s way and I ought be living on approx. 3 rice cakes a day if I want to look more Victoria’s Secret model and less beached whale, but there are moments when a little indulgence is not only okay, but actually (in my opinion) very necessary. So when my lovely friend told me about her brand new amazing job, it seemed like an occasion for celebratory cake. So we obviously headed to Patisserie Valerie – whenever we walk past one of their shops, we spend about 20 minutes drooling over their cakes and treats (who doesn’t?!), so it seemed the perfect place to be extra naughty.
We contemplated their Afternoon Tea, but after much consideration (seriously, we stood deciding for about 15 minutes – everything just looked too good!), we decided to share a couple of their famous slices, and teamed them with a couple of chocolate frappes.
First and foremost, the frappe. I have to mention this first because it was, quite frankly, the most delicious drink I have ever tasted. It was basically just melted chocolate in a glass, and felt like drinking the most indulgent, chocolate-y milkshake. It wasn’t even sickly. In fact, if I could drink any drink every day for the rest of my life, it’d be this. I’m not even exaggerating, it is THAT good. Probably not ideal if you’re not chocolate-obsessed like I am, but nonetheless, I implore anybody to try this and not love it! Just maybe don’t think about the calories – I know I’m not!
Cake-wise, we went for the Lemon Cheesecake and Strawberry Mille-Feuille, the latter being our favourite – it was seriously divine, although a bit messy to eat! The cheesecake was a completely different consistency to the cheesecakes I’m used to, but still yummy! I’m actually glad we didn’t go for the Afternoon Tea, as I was so filled up by my frappe and the two slices we shared, that I’m not sure I’d have been able to finish off all that food! I’m sure I’ll give it a go at some point though!
Have any of you tried some of the amazing treats at Patisserie Valerie? What do you recommend?
