Beauty Boxes have been pretty popular for a while now, and I’ll be really upfront here, I have never really been a fan of them. Initially, like a lot of other beauty addicts, I thought they were a great idea, but I tried out a couple of different Beauty Boxes and, to be perfectly frank, I just wound up really disappointed.
So when I saw a whole load of Bbloggers talking about the Latest in Beauty Glamour Beauty Edit Box I was pretty hesitant to even consider it, that is, until I saw all the products that it contained.
What I liked is that you can see almost exactly what is in this box before you buy. It means you can assess whether you will actually use most/any of the products and make a well-informed decision on whether to buy/not to buy. After having a proper look at each of the products ion the box, I was actually really surprised – there were several pretty decent products that I knew I would definitely use (or already do use), and some that I’ve been dying to try for ages (the Magnifiber Lashes have been on my ‘to-try’ list for so long!).
The box is also only £16.95 – only a little bit more than some other Beauty Boxes, but contains 9 products (7 full size) while most others contain around 5/6 products, most of which are trial size. So you’re literally getting much more for your money.
I was pretty excited by the inclusion of this lipstick in the Glamour Beauty Edit. This product alone is worth £18.50, which when you consider the box itself is £16.95, just speaks for itself really! Now, to be honest, the colour that I received (Buff) is not a colour that I would wear, as it is fairly dark on my fair skin, so I was a little disappointed, especially given all of the other lovely colours in the collection. But I am sure that I can find somebody to pass this onto!
This was one product I was pretty excited about, and again, it’s £20 price tag makes the box so much value for money. I’ve tried a couple of similar products before, but mostly the liquid versions, which tends to leave white marks on my lashes or leave them clumpy. This one claims to be ‘no glue, no mess, no fuss’ and it really is just that. I’ve only tried this very quickly, but it left my lashes looking really long and full, and covered over so easily with mascara. The only thing I would suggest is not to put this too close to the eye line, as the fibres can irritate the eyes a little if they get too close. other than that, I highly recommend.
Being fair-skinned, I am a big fan of tanning products, and so love that this was included in the Beauty Box. Rimmel Sunshimmer Instant Tan has always been a product I used a lot when I was younger, before I mastered the application of longer-lasting tanning products. It could always be relied on to give me a quick tan fix without the smears or streaks of other tanning products. This one claims to contain BB elements, but, if I’m honest, I wasn’t sure it looked much different to the classic Sunshimmer I used years ago. Still, it’s a great product to use, easy to apply, and the Light colour gave me a nice glowy colour without being too orangey.
Again, another tanning product that’s always useful to have to hand. This one is the original mitt, and really gives a lovely smoothing effect when applying both liquid, spray and mousse tanning products. Perfect.
Another staple product, especially given the super hot weather we’ve been having. This one will be perfect to take with me (along with some SPF50 lotions no doubt) when I go away to the USA in a few weeks time. It’s got a lovely scent, and a great size to pop in your handbag for days out!
Okay, so this product I have had in a previous Beauty Box, and had never really been too sold on it before. I have quite oily skin in areas, and thought that an oil-based product would just be awful, so didn’t give this a chance. However, having recently tried and become addicted to another oil-based product, The Body Shop Camomile Oil Cleanser (which, it turns out, doesn’t leave my skin greasy at all), I think I might give this one a proper try. I’ll let you know how I get on.
This product is one I’m quite excited to try out, but haven’t had the opportunity yet. I have pretty fine hair, which tends to go really flat, especially during the summer months when it gets hot. This Mousse will be perfect for keeping my hair plumped and full – I’ll be giving this a try at the next available opportunity to let you know how it goes!
I got this Nail Polish in the ‘Petal’ colour – a lovely shade of pink that suits my skin tone perfectly, though I would have been happy with either of the shades of this! This one definitely needs two coats as it is quite translucent with just one, but it seemed to be pretty hardwearing, which, given how heavy-handed I can be, is a fairly impressive feat. I did use a top coat, so this could well have helped, but I still loved this polish.
This product just came in the one colour in the box, but I really loved the shade. It is a ‘Nude Velvet’, and has a really nice ‘peachy/apricot’ feel to it, which suited my skin tone amazingly. It’s a really vibrant shade for summer, and although I generally prefer a powder blush, I found this really easy to apply. It also stayed on my skin really well, even in this hot weather. Definitely one I’ll be using a lot this summer!
Overall, I really liked the Glamour Beauty Edit Box, as it had a good range or products that most people would like, and was such good value for money. In general though, I won’t be converting back to traditional Beauty Boxes any time soon – they are too unpredictable, and I end up with products I wouldn’t use.
